Time?

It’s probably the one thing we could all use a little more of as the hours quickly tick away to the holidays. Hilldale Dental understands how tough it can be to accomplish everything on your to-do list at this time of year. Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, you’re probably being invited to some parties, festive meals, and in general getting an opportunity to load up on the more than usual amount of tasty treats. But add worry about all of your obligations– and you may have a recipe for disaster.

Overeating Caused by Emotions?

A new study shows the reason many of us end up overindulging at this time of year. It’s not so much the ability to enjoy all the extra munching during the holidays, instead blame the need for extra comfort on the stress of the season. 75% of overeating (eating without being hungry), is caused by emotions. Those who participated in the research say they found themselves, hungry or not, reaching for additional food when feeling tense. Most also say they didn’t need the extra snacks when more relaxed, even though they were given equal access to those treats they craved while stressed.

New Year’s Resolution: No Overeating!

This time of year can be wonderful, yet challenging. Our team believes it’s important to give yourself a gift focused on your health, and peace of mind. Take a walk, meditate, read, listen to music. It doesn’t really matter what you do, and may just lead to your resolution for 2015: a vow to feed your emotions with fun and friendship, not food.
